Eleanor A. Carr, 91, oldest lifelong resident of Amherst, NH, died May 6, 2012, surrounded by her loving family at St. Joseph Hospital, Nashua, NH. She was born in Amherst, NH on June 26, 1920, a daughter of Roy and Inez Aikins. Mrs. Carr took great pride in raising and caring for her family. She loved dancing, singing, crocheting and playing cards. She was a member and Past Worthy Matron of Puritan Charity Themis Atlantic Chapter #29, Order of Eastern Star and was a longtime organist for the chapter. In addition, she served the Grand Chapter of New Hampshire in 1979-1980 as Grand Warder. Mrs. Carr was a member of Custos Morum Rebekah Lodge #23 and Ricciardi Hartshorn Unit #23 American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Milford, UCC. Mrs. Carr was predeceased by her loving husband, Richard D. Carr, who died in 2009. Family members include a daughter and son-in-law, Catherine Plant Chamberlain and Peter Chamberlain of Jaffrey, NH; four grandchildren, Tori Plant and Chad Plant, both of Milford, Shelley Plant of Peterborough, NH and Tyler Plant of Jaffrey, NH; two great granddaughters, Fallyn Victoria Weeks and Aria Lizotte. There are no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 11th at 11:30 am in Meadowview Cemetery, Foundry Street, Amherst, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 51 Blossom Street, Boston, MA 02114.
