Edward L. Norton

Edward L. Norton, 92, resident of The Villages, FL died on May 24, 2016 in The Villages Regional Hospital. He was born in Milford, NH in 1923, the son of Thomas and Annabel (Jacques) Norton. During World War II, Ed proudly served his country as a bombardier in the Navy Air Corps station in the Philippines. He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, the Philippine Liberation Medal and numerous other medals and ribbons. Ed worked for Lorden Lumber Company for several years in Milford, NH before opening his own company, Lowell Lumber Company in Lowell, Massachusetts until his retirement years later. Ed was known for his laughter, jokes and most especially enjoyed his family. He moved with his wife, Barbara, to The Villages in Florida in 2007. He was predeceased by his son, Barry Norton, who died in 2014 and a sister, Dorothy Cleaves. Family members include his loving wife of 67 years, Barbara (Ouellette) Norton of The Villages, FL; his beloved daughters, Susan Kaveckas and her husband, Leonard of Seaford, DE, and Colleen Norton of Santa Monica, CA; his four wonderful grandchildren, Sara Norton Lincoln, Shane Norton, Ethan Norton and Erin Norton Fiffield; and his precious five great grandchildren, Aiden Lincoln, Abby Lincoln, Lily Norton, Gabriel Norton and Sean Fiffield; and a sister, Eunice Welch of Milford, NH. Calling hours are on Friday, May 27th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford. Burial with military honors will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Milford.
