Edward J. Trentini, 81, resident of Amherst, NH, passed away at home on June 10, 2012 after a brief illness with lung cancer. Ed was born on June 22, 1930 in Manchester, NH, the son of the late Joseph and Alice (Johnson) Trentini. He was a resident of Amherst for the past 35 years and formerly lived in Milford all of his life. A graduate of Milford High School, Ed served three years in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1954 with the rank of Sergeant. He was a state trooper for the New Hampshire State Police and retired after 23 years of service. Following his retirement, he was employed by Kollsman Instruments for 10 years. Ed and his wife wintered in Ft. Myers, FL for several years. His many memberships included the NH Benevolent System, State Employees’ Association of New Hampshire, New Hampshire Association of Retired Law Enforcement Officers, Inc., Ricciardi Hartshorn Unit #23, American Legion and Harley Sanford Post #4368, VFW. He was a lifetime member of the Milford United Methodist Church. Ed was predeceased by two stepsons, Dennis Bishop and Terry Bishop. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Beverly (Wood) Trentini of Amherst; his stepson, Ted Bishop and his wife, Darlene Bishop of Milford; his beloved grandchildren, Kim Bishop of Milford, Shaun Bishop and his wife, Tanya of Manchester, NH, Tyler Bishop and his fiancé, Gina Lanni of Milford; his precious great grandchildren, Landon Pierce of Milford and Jackson Bishop of Manchester, NH; his sisters-in-law, Raelene McLain and her husband, Scott of Hudson, NH, Janice Diehsner and her fiancé, Bill Kelly of North Billerica, MA; and many cousins. A special thanks to the VNA Hospice of Manchester for all their special help and kindness. Visiting hours are Wednesday, June 13th from 4:00-8:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:30 am in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Milford. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to VNA of Manchester, 1070 Holt Avenue, Suite 1400, Manchester, NH 03109.
