Edna M. Whitney, 98, resident of Wilton, NH, died October 24, 2010 at the Milford Medical Center, Milford, NH. She was born in Brookline, NH on February 16, 1912, a daughter of the late Frederick G. and Irenda (Burton) Hall. She was raised and educated in Brookline and later moved to Wilton in 1935. Mrs. Whitney was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and enjoyed gardening, canning and bird watching. In addition, she was a member of the First Unitarian Congregational Society, Wilton Center, NH. She was a homemaker for most of her life and loved spending time with her family. Mrs. Whitney was predeceased by her husband, Edgar A. Whitney, Sr.; a son, Edgar A. Whitney, Jr. and a daughter, Irene Johnson. Family members include her daughter, Marion Mochrie of Wilton, NH; three sons, Richard, Donald and Ernest Whitney, all of Wilton; a special nephew, David Hall of Wilton; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; a sister, Alice Boutwell of Lyndeborough; many nieces and nephews. There are no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 28th at 1:00 pm in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Abbott Hill Road, Wilton, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Wilton Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 584, Wilton, NH 03086 or the First Unitarian Congregational Society, P.O. Box 89, Wilton, NH 03086.
