Edith B. Carson, 86, resident of Amherst, NH died on April 27, 2019 at her home. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 24, 1932, a daughter of Henry A. and Edith (Pape) Bates. She was a graduate of Simons College, Boston, MA. Mrs. Carson made her home in Amherst since 1963. She was a homemaker for most of her life. She was a long time member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Milford, NH. She served on the Amherst School Board for multiple terms. She gave back to the community as a library volunteer in the Amherst and Manchester Public School systems. Mrs. Carson was predeceased by her husband, of fifty-three years, C. Thomas Carson, a daughter, Candace Theriault, and a granddaughter Jennifer. Family members include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Cathleen E. Miller of Derry, Susan M. and Thomas Pullar of Fairview, PA, and Deborah J. and Robert Butler of Moyock, N.C.; three grandchildren, Jason P. Miller and his wife Katherine of Framingham, MA, and Stephen Miller of Derry, and Kathryn Meyer and her husband, Michael, of Westchester IL; and six great grandchildren. There will be a brief graveside service on Wednesday, May 8th at 11:00am in Meadowview Cemetery, Foundry Street, Amherst.
