Earl L. Townsend

Earl L. Townsend, 93, longtime resident of Milford, NH, died on December 7, 2022 at Crestwood Center in Milford. He was predeceased by his wife of over 50 years, Glenda E. (Aubertine) Townsend, who died in 2012.

He was born in Lynn, MA on October 21, 1929, a son of Edgar W. and Sarah (Stanton) Townsend. He made his home in Milford for the past 75 years. Earl was a United States Navy Veteran having served during the Korean War and was a member of the Ricciardi Hartshorn Post #23, American Legion, Milford. After serving, Earl was employed as a supervisor for Raytheon Corporation for 29 years.

He was an avid hunter and enjoyed target shooting. He was a member of Pinnacle Mountain Fish & Game Club and Purgatory Falls Fish & Game Club. Earl was a lifelong Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. He was also a New York Giants fan. He enjoyed listening to music and spending time with his friends and family.

Earl will be missed by all who had the great fortune to know him. In addition to his wife Glenda, Earl is predeceased by his sister, Marilyn Goodwin. Members of his family include two sons, Michael and his wife Kathy, James and his wife Sampheurs, all of Milford; two grandchildren, Jacob Townsend and Jessica Schooley and her husband Justin; two great-grandchildren, Nikolas and Noah Schooley also of Milford, NH.

SERVICES: A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. Burial with military honors will follow in Riverside Cemetery, 454 Nashua Street, Milford. In lieu of flowers, donations in Earl’s memory may be made to Crestwood Center, 40 Crosby Street, Milford, NH 03055.
