Dorothy G. (Mahoney) Adams, 96, longtime resident of Concord, NH died on March 23, 2015 at Hillsborough County Nursing Home in Goffstown, NH after a period of declining health. She was born in Nashua, NH on September 26, 1918, a daughter of Ruth (Smith) Mahoney and Alfred J. Mahoney of Milford, NH. She graduated from Milford High School, Class of 1936 and was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church. During World War II she married Captain Herbert L. Adams in North Carolina on February 12, 1943. After he shipped out, she lived in Long Beach, CA where she graduated from business school and worked in the Civil Service at the Port of Embarkation in Wilmington, CA. After the war, she and her husband owned and operated the Adams Clam Bar restaurant in Boscawen, NH for many years. Mrs. Adams resided in Bedford for a short time and formerly made her home in Bow, NH for ten years and Concord, NH for many years. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, was a member of the Concord Coach square dancing club and line dancing group “The White Rock Rockettes” in Bow. Mrs. Adams was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist in Concord, NH. She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert L. Adams; a daughter, Mary Ann Hogancamp; her sister, Mary Condon; and two brothers, Alfred J. Mahoney and Stanley S. Mahoney. Family members include a daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy A. and Brian Krol of Bedford, NH; four grandchildren, Briana Krol, Chelsey Krol, Wesley Krol and Adam Hogancamp; a sister, Constance Aveni of Madison, OH; a sister-in-law, Cecile Mahoney Coy of Greenfield, NH; many nieces and nephews. There are no calling hours. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, March 28th at 10:00 am in St. Patrick’s Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford, NH. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Amherst, NH at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place, W. 6th floor, Brookline, Ma 02445 or to the Learn to Read Adult Literacy Program, 405 Pine Street, Manchester, NH 03104.
