Donna E. Blake

Donna Eileen Quinn Blake, 69, resident of Milford, NH died on Tuesday, September 30th at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center from complications following open heart surgery. Donna was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and faithful friend to many. Donna was born in Skowhegan, Maine on October 24, 1944, a daughter of Stanley “Pat” Quinn and Valetta Quinn of Norridgewock, Maine. Donna graduated from Skowhegan High School and went on to attend the Peter Bent Brigham School of Nursing in Boston. After graduation, she met and married Bruce Allen Blake in 1966. Donna and Bruce moved to Milford, NH in 1970, where they raised their two children and remained for the rest of their lives. Donna served as the school nurse at Milford Elementary School between 1980 and 1999. She loved children and enjoyed getting to know many Milford students during her long career. She started the Dental Clinic providing free dental care to Milford elementary school students and currently serves grades K-12. Donna also enjoyed gardening, painting, and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the Milford Garden Club and was active in the Share Program, Milford. She was predeceased by her husband, Bruce A. Blake, who died on June 5, 2014. Donna is survived by her son, Timothy and his wife Heidi (Lindquist) Blake of Stratham, NH; her daughter, Janna (Blake) Mellon and her husband Michael Mellon of Alton Bay, NH; her five grandchildren, Jasper and Liam Blake, and Haley, Hannah and Hayden Mellon; her younger brother, Michael Quinn, of Canton, Georgia; and her older sister, Sharon (Quinn) Googins of Brunswick, Maine; many nieces, nephews and cousins. There are no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 9th at 10:00 am in the First Congregational Church of Milford, UCC, 10 Union Street, Milford.
