Donald James Curtis

Donald J. Curtis, 87, resident of Milford, NH, former longtime resident of Rindge, NH, died at the Community Hospice House on October 11, 2024, after a period of declining health.

He was born on April 20, 1937, in Worcester, MA, the son of the late Edwin and Mary (Joyce) Curtis.

Donald was raised and educated in Lowell Ma, and graduated from Lowell High school, class of 1955. He served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1961. Later in life he continued his education and earned his degree from New Hampshire College.

He met his loving wife on a blind date on St Patricks Day, in 1962. They married that July where they spent the next 61 years together enjoying the love of their daughters and grandchildren. His pride and joy was his family. He entertained us all with his wit and his jingles that everyone of his family members can recite.

He worked for over 30 years for Millipore in both Bedford MA and Jaffrey, NH as a supervisor. In his younger years he was very active in the Silver Mittens boxing arena in Lowell, MA, never losing a fight. He was the king of jokes, double talking and one liners. His most favorite passion was being with his four “lovely” daughters (as he would say) and his 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was often found at family gatherings with his video camera in hand capturing every moment.

He is predeceased by his beautiful and loving wife, of 61 years, Joan, who he has missed every single day since her passing. He is also predeceased by his son Donald James Curtis Jr (1979) and his late brother Edwin Curtis and late sister Mary Joyce Mahoney.

Family members include his loving daughters; Colleen Johnson of Milford, NH and partner Steve Butler, Cathy Piekarski of Longwood, FL and partner Cliff Patterson, Candy Curtis and partner Mark Bergeron of Sanbornton, NH, Carrie Drew and her late husband Pete Drew of Jaffrey, NH; eleven grandchildren, Brad, Adam, Carly, Nathan, Dylan, Bridget, Riley, Steven, Gillian, Jake and Bailey; six great-grandchildren, Lyla, Hayden, Isla, Naia, Mabel and Beckett.
