Deborah G. Hayes, 66, resident of Milford, NH died on December 30, 2014 at her home. She was born in Nashua, NH on July 10, 1948, a daughter of Reginald S. and Hazel N. (Murray) Going. Deborah was raised and educated in Amherst, NH, graduated from High Mowing School in Wilton, NH and attended Nasson College, Springvale, Maine. Deborah had lived in Milford for the past 18 years and prior to her recent retirement, worked as a special education teacher’s aide at Milford High School for many years. She was a deeply creative person who felt at home barefoot in the garden, crafting stained glass or pottery, and making all types of art and crafts. She also had a long history of caretaking, curiosity, and empathy for people and for people’s struggles. So many were drawn to her for solace in her warm, uninhibited tenderness and easy laughter. She deeply touched the lives of those who knew her, evoking in us our own free spirit to match the one she shared. She leaves behind her husband, Brad Hayes; her son, David Hayes of Los Angeles, CA; two grandchildren (whom she adored), Imogen and Atticus; a sister and brother-in-law, Alicia and Bruce Hammatt of Tenants Harbor, ME; a nephew, Nat Hammatt; and cousins, Steven Warren and Peter Warren. A memorial service will be held on January 31st at 2pm in the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 20 Elm Street, Milford, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to High Mowing School, Development & Alumni/ae Relations, 222 Isaac Frye Highway, Wilton, NH 03086.
