David S. Koon

David Sing Koon, 82 years old, of Bedford, New Hampshire, peacefully passed away on November 17, 2024, from pancreatic cancer, with his loving family by his side at the Community Hospice House, Merrimack, New Hampshire.

David was born in Hong Kong on April 28, 1942. He graduated from Lincoln University, San Francisco, California with a bachelor of arts degree in 1961. 

After fleeing the Cultural Revolution, and becoming a U.S. citizen, David joined the U.S. Army and served honorably from 1968 to 1970. In 1973, he moved to Milford, New Hampshire where he opened and operated a Chinese restaurant for 26 years, becoming a fixture of his adopted home and the greater Milford community. In 1999, he retired and began a new chapter of his life filled with world travel and physical fitness. 

David is survived by his wife of 57 years, May Jean Koon; their three sons, Sterling, Nolan, and Justin; and their five grandchildren, David, Pristina, Leah, Parker, and Caylee. 

SERVICES: A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 10:00 AM in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, New Hampshire.  Burial will follow in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 DW Highway, Boscawen, New Hampshire. In lieu of flowers, kindly send donations to the Community Hospice House, Merrimack, New Hampshire, in memory of David.
