Daniel Christians, born on April 26, 1955, in Passaic, New Jersey, passed away suddenly on November 11, 2020, after a diagnosis of cancer in October. Dan was a longtime resident of Brookline, New Hampshire, where he resided on Lake Potanipo for nearly twenty years. In 2017, he followed his love of the water and moved to Gloucester, Massachusetts, where he lived just a short walk from the beach. In July of 2020, Dan purchased a home in Alton Bay, where he planned to retire on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee. Dan worked as a software engineer for over thirty-five years, and later returned to school to earn his Master’s degree. In his spare time, he enjoyed bicycling, watching birds, fishing, and trying new restaurants. Most of all, he loved listening to music and sharing it with others, especially his girlfriend, Marlene Grant, of Kinnelon, New Jersey, whom he adored. Dan leaves behind several family members including his two daughters, Danielle and Alison Christians, and their mother, Dina. He is also survived by his lifelong friend and brother in-law, Ken MacDougall, and his wife, Karen, both of whom were pillars of support for Dan. Also surviving are his nephews, Sean and Eric MacDougall and Eric's wife, Danielle. Dan was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Theresa, and his brother, Charles. Calling hours are on Wednesday, November 18, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Thursday, November 19, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Patrick’s Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Saint Basil’s in Methuen, Massachusetts, where his men’s prayer group originated. Those attending are asked to adhere to current guidelines by wearing a mask and observing social distancing.
