Cora L. Brown, 86, resident of Mont Vernon, NH, died June 3, 2012 at her home. She was born in Lowell, MA on July 23, 1925, a daughter of Edward Clifton and Bernice (Leland) Lakin. She was raised and educated in Chelmsford, MA having graduated from Chelmsford High School and continued her education at Providence Bible Institute (PBI). Mrs. Brown and her late husband retired to Mont Vernon in 1984, and formerly made their home in Rhode Island for many years. She was a pianist and gave piano lessons. In addition, she was the interim organist at many churches and for more than 10 years she played the organ and piano at The First Baptist Church of Milford. Mrs. Brown loved to bake and enjoyed needlepoint and tatting. She was predeceased by her husband, Rev. Donald E. Brown, who died in 1999. Family members include a daughter and son-in-law, Julia and Richard Griffith of Mont Vernon; a son, Guy A. Brown of Pawtucket, RI; six grandchildren, Dustin Brown, Allyson Brown, Nathan Griffith, Joel Griffith, Amy Griffith and Hannah Griffith; a sister, Marjorie Hopler of Lowell, MA; her former daughter-in-law, Jane Brown of Providence, RI; many nieces and nephews. There are no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 9th at 11:00 am in the Milford United Methodist Church, 327 North River Road, Milford. Burial will be private in Green Lawn Cemetery, Mont Vernon, NH.
