Ciro J. “Joe” Manzi, Jr., 78, resident of Mont Vernon, NH died on February 11, 2019 at Catholic Medical Center, Manchester, NH. He was born in Springfield, MA on December 14, 1940, a son of Ciro J. Manzi, Sr. and Bernice (Marty) Manzi. He was raised and educated in Palmer, MA and graduated from Monson Academy, Monson, MA, Class of 1959. Joe made his home in Mont Vernon, NH since 1973. He began his career as a pilot for Delta Airlines in 1968 and retired as a Captain in 1991. In addition, Joe was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. He enjoyed fishing, skiing and had a need for speed that explains the corvette and crotch rocket motorcycle in the garage. One of his favorite quotes is “Failure is not an option” ~ Apollo 13. We will miss you, Dad, Grandpa C.J., Joe. Family members include two daughters and a son-in-law, Lori and Douglass Ruffier of Butte, MT and Sheri B. Manzi of Boothbay, ME; two grandchildren, Bryce Ruffier and Brooke Ruffier; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Beverly and Norman Devio of Hopkinton, MA, Rosalie Wherity of Brewster, MA, Cynthia and Al Campbell of Leesburg, FL and Nancy Manzi of Hartford, CT; many nieces and nephews; his former wife, Serine Rose Plante. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 20th at 11:00 am in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. Burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery, Mont Vernon, NH in the spring. Dad was a generous man and gave to the Food Banks and M.S. Society. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your local Food Bank or M.S. Society.
