Charles W. Phelps

Charles W. Phelps, 72, resident of Mason, NH, died October 17, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family after a long illness. He was born in Cambridge, MA on August 26, 1938, a son of the late Charles W. Phelps, Sr. and Bernice (Munro) Phelps. Mr. Phelps had been a resident of Mason since 1989 and formerly lived in Harvard, MA for 25 years. In the earlier part of his career, he was self-employed in the custom cabinetry business and was later involved in sales and financing for the automotive industry, having retired in 2004. Mr. Phelps enjoyed cooking, gardening and his home. He was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather and loved spending time with family. He served in the U.S. Air Force. Family members include his wife of 49 years, Carol A. Phelps of Mason, NH; a son and daughter-in-law, Christopher W. and Melissa Phelps of Malibu, CA; a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Michael Spagna of Nottingham, NH; three grandchildren, Logan, Kendall and Graydon; a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and John Graham of Harvard, MA; and two nieces. Visiting hours are Thursday, October 21st from 3:00-6:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. Funeral services will be private at a later date.
