Celia E. Lorden

Celia E. Lorden, 82, resident of Milford, NH, died November 14, 2010 at the Community Hospice House, Merrimack, NH surrounded by her family. She was born in Mason, NH on June 2, 1928, a daughter of the late John and Lempi (Wiik) Koivula. Raised and educated in Mason, NH, she graduated from Townsend High School, Class of 1947. Following her marriage to Frederick Lorden, they made their home in Milford for the past 61 years where they raised their family. She was a loving wife, devoted mother to her eight children and cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Lorden was an active member of The First Congregational Church of Milford, UCC, where she was a member of the choir, Laura G. Heald Club and served on the music committee. She played the piano and organ and for many years, she participated in the annual Messiah Sing, Mont Vernon, NH. She loved gardening, baking and in her later years, she enjoyed swimming at Hampshire Hills. Family members include her husband, Frederick Lorden of Milford; six daughters, Linda E. Devine and Elaine P. Schulze, both of Amherst, NH, Norma J. Glow and Irene M. Grant, both of Brookline, NH, Charlene M. Cahill of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Marcia L. Rumore of New Boston, NH; two sons, Dana J. Lorden of Hollis, NH and Michael D. Lorden of Milford, NH; 24 Grandchildren; 6 Great Grandchildren; two sisters, Lillian Martin of Townsend, MA and Ellen Pratt of Amherst, NH; many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours are Friday, November 19th from 4:00-7:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am in the First Congregational Church of Milford, UCC, 10 Union Street, Milford. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Milford. Donations in her memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
