Cedric R. Cooley, 86, longtime resident of Milford, NH, died on December 13, 2012 at Hillsborough County Nursing Home, Goffstown, NH. He was born in Antrim, NH on September 2, 1926, a son of Dennis W. and Eva M. (Marson) Cooley. He attended Milford High School and in his junior year was drafted into the U.S. Army. Mr. Cooley served in the Philippines and was assigned to the 40th Infantry Division, stationed at Panay. He also served active duty in the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, Mr. Cooley worked for French & Heald Furniture Company in Milford for many years. He was an avid New England sports fan and enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots. He was a regular spectator of Milford High School sports and had been active with the Spartan Drum and Bugle Corp. Mr. Cooley was predeceased by a brother, Richard Cooley and a sister, Ialeen Putnam. Family members include a brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Helen Cooley of Milford; a sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and Richard Bruce of Winchester, NH; several nieces and nephews. A visiting hour will be held on Monday, December 17th from 10:00 to 11:00 am in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. Funeral services with military honors will begin at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Antrim, NH, in the spring. Donations in Cedric’s memory may be made to the Recreation Department, Hillsborough County Nursing Home, 400 Mast Road, Goffstown, NH 03045 or to the Home Health & Hospice, 7 Executive Park Drive, Merrimack, NH 03054.
