Catherine T. Mavrikos, 87, resident of Milford, NH, died September 11, 2009 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Buffalo, NY on May 23, 1922, a daughter of the late Paul and Pota (Tyrovolas) Vallas. Mrs. Mavrikos resided in Milford for more than 20 years and formerly lived in Cambridge, MA for many years. She had been employed at Citizens Bank, Nashua, NH and held the distinction as the oldest bank teller in the State of New Hampshire, retiring at the age of 83. Mrs. Mavrikos was a loving mother, devoted grandmother and great grandmother. She was predeceased by her husband, Theodore J. Mavrikos who died in 1970; a sister, Thelma Wertman and a brother, George Vallas. Family members include her son and daughter-in-law, James and Nikki Mavrikos of Medway, MA; a daughter, Karen Therrien of Milford, with whom she made her home; five grandchildren, Adam, Andrew, Dean, Ashley, Lisa and her husband, David; four great grandchildren; a brother and two sisters-in-law, James and Hope Vallas, Darlene Vallas, all of NY; several nieces, nephews and godchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17th from 9:30-10:00 am in St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 57 Brown Street, Weston, MA, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 am. Burial will be at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, MA. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 20th at 2:00 pm in the River of Life Christian Fellowship, 9 Route 101A, Amherst, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2 Commerce Drive, Suite #110, Bedford, NH 03110.
