Carolyn M. Momenee, 80, of Milford, NH, died at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, January 27, 2024. She was born on May 22, 1943, in Toledo, OH, the eldest daughter of the late Harold and Virginia (Werdehoff) Huss. There, she met David Momenee, and they were married May 23, 1964. Throughout their nearly 60 years of marriage they lived in Sharon, PA, Madison Heights, MI, Monrovia, CA, and West Chester, PA, before making Milford, NH their home. Together they had nine children, Maureen (William) Chase, Aimee (Andy) Simons, Mark Momenee, Michelle Momenee, Michael Momenee, John (Jess) Momenee, Cate (Rafe) Stepto, Carrie (Eric) Laurendeau, Ginnie (John Henry) Stoltenborg, 21 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother Thomas (Connie) Huss, and is survived by her sisters, Eileen (David) Wasielewski, Patricia (Wayne) Bockert, and Anita (Steven) Winchell.
With so many children, Carolyn was a full-time mom, but her generous heart and deep faith led her to many additional activities.
She was a teacher’s aide in the grade school, helping those who needed individual guidance.
She served as co-director of SHARE with Mariette Facques, and in other ways there including the food pantry and the clothing barn. It seemed many coincidences occurred: a donation for a need, a solution to a problem. For these Carolyn would say “God provides.”
Several times she welcomed homeless into her home until they could get on their own.
She often mailed cookies to friends and family and shared some with the folks at the post office.
As a Eucharistic Minister she brought communion to many, often the elderly who couldn’t get to church. These visits also included nice chats with those who did not get much company. She started the LunchBunch program at the Granite Square, Mill, and BeechBrook apartments, and continued the program with many volunteer cooks and servers for more than 20 years. This gave the residents a chance to get together in community. She would help residents celebrate their birthdays and deliver lunch plates to those who couldn’t get to the community room.
Her participation in SHARE and LunchBunch were among the grounds for her receiving the 2012 Granite Award from the Knights of Columbus. She was always a humble person, never bringing attention to herself. She was always generous and caring, complimenting others or caring for others’ needs.
