Carol E. Mattson

Carol E. “Mimi” Mattson, 86, a resident of Brookline, NH died at the Southern NH Medical Center, Nashua, NH, on August 2, 2022 after a period of declining health. She was born on April 27, 1936 in Goffstown, NH a daughter of the late Ellsworth and Elizabeth (Jensen) Austin. Carol was raised and educated locally and graduated from Nashua High School class of 1954. Following a short time in Townsend, MA when her children were young, Carol really called her beloved Brookline home. She worked for many years as an assembler with Tom Callahan Associates in Milford. When she wasn’t working, she could be found playing cards, baking, being in nature and most importantly spending time with her grandchildren. She will be truly missed by all. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Ralph, Ellie, Joe and her granddaughter, Katie Hamilton. Survivors include her children, Cathi and Steve Whitcomb of Brookline, NH, Kenny and Terri Mattson of Townsend, MA, Brenda and Charles Garretson of Townsend, MA; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and many close friends in Brookline. SERVICES: A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Brookline, NH. All are invited to meet directly at the cemetery.
