Carol A. Dutton

Carol A. Dutton, 82, of Plant City, FL, formerly of Milford, NH, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the South Florida Baptist Hospital, Plant City, FL on October 24, 2012 following a brief illness. Carol was born in Nashua, NH on May 5, 1930, the daughter of the late Stephen and Hazel (Grader) Tonella. Mrs. Dutton was a longtime resident of Milford. She was a graduate of Milford High School, Class of 1948. She has lived in Plant City, FL since 1989. Carol’s family was her greatest joy in life; she also enjoyed her friends, travel, golf and bingo. Carol worked for a number of businesses in the Milford area including the Souhegan National Bank, Farm Bureau, Label Art, and JP Chemical. Mrs. Dutton also worked for the Town of Milford Board of Selectmen, and served as Overseer of the Poor, and as a Police Matron. Carol was the first woman to run for a position on the Milford Board of Selectmen. Carol was a member of the American Golf Association, the New Hampshire Women’s Golf Association, the Amherst Country Club where she was the first Women’s Club Champion (1968 and again in 1970) and the Polk County Florida Women’s Golf Association where she was President from 1998-1999. Carol was predeceased by her husband George J. Dutton, Jr. and her sister Janet E. Camp. She will be greatly missed by her loving family, a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen J. and Pamela Thayer Dutton of Vienna, VA, a daughter and son-in-law Deborah L. and her husband Irving R. Potter of Plant City, FL; her four beloved grandchildren, Stephen C. Dutton and his wife Jennifer of New York, NY, Scott C. Dutton of Arlington, VA, Kimber E. Seymour and her husband John of Sante Fe, NM, Stephanie J. Steward and her husband Jerry of Bethlehem, PA; her three precious great grandchildren, Dylan Chandler of Sante Fe, NM, Eliza Seymour of Sante Fe, NM and Ada Steward of Bethlehem, PA; a nephew David C. Camp, of Keene, NH and a niece and her husband Amy C. and Kevin Agnelli of Port St. Lucie, FL; her brother-in-law, Richard Camp and his wife Arlene, of Amherst, NH and her cousins George Grader and Dwight Grader of Marblehead, MA. Carol will also be missed by her life long friends. A celebration of life was held in Plant City, FL on October 27, 2012. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, November 2nd from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 3rd at 11:00 am in the funeral home. Burial will be in the family plot at Riverside Cemetery, Milford, NH. Pall Bearers: Stephen C. Dutton, Scott Dutton, Jerry Steward, David Camp, Moses Grader and Charles Estabrook. Honorary Bearers: Richard Camp, George Grader, Dwight Grader, Allen Jowders and Chester Whitten.
