Carl S. Boutwell, 73, lifelong resident of Wilton, NH, died on September 24, 2021 at the Catholic Medical Center, Manchester, NH after a brief illness. He was born in Nashua, NH on January 29, 1948, the son of the late Doris Boutwell. Carl was raised and educated in Wilton and graduated from Wilton High School, Class of 1966. He began his career with Public Service of New Hampshire, and retired as a working line foreman and a proud employee after thirty five years of dedicated service. Carl served his country in the Army National Guard and later as a faithful member of the Wilton Fire Department, retiring with the rank of Assistant Fire Chief. He found himself involved in many activities in his hometown of Wilton, from stringing the Christmas lights downtown, to being instrumental in the installation of lights at the Wilton High School soccer fields. Carl enjoyed spending time entertaining family and friends and hosting New England Patriots and Red Sox parties. He was an avid softball player and spent many years playing with the “Waterbuffalos” and chasing softball games around the Souhegan Valley. In addition, he loved to play pranks on the neighborhood kids out trick-or-treating during Halloween. He will be missed by many that knew him. Family members include his two sons and a daughter-in-law, Stephen and Marianne Boutwell of Keene, NH, and Shawn Boutwell of Temple, NH; a grandson, Jacob Boutwell of Keene, NH; many close friends and cousins. In accordance with Carl’s wishes there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021 in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, Abbot Hill Road, Wilton, NH at 11:00 AM. All are welcome to attend and meet directly at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Wilton Firemen's Relief Association, P.O. Box 533, Wilton, NH 03086.
