Brenda J. Silva, 70, resident of Milford, NH, died June 10, 2010 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born in Exeter, NH on September 28, 1939, a daughter of the late Robert and Robena (Swett) Parker. She was raised and educated in Kingston, NH, graduated from Sanborn Seminary in 1957 and Keene Teachers College, Class of 1961. Mrs. Silva made her home in Milford since 1962. For several years, she was a home economics teacher in Hudson and Hollis, NH. In 1969, she and her husband established Silva Properties of Milford. She was a member of The First Congregational Church of Milford, UCC, Puritan-Charity-Themis-Atlantic Chapter #29 O.E.S., former Trustee of Derryfield School in Manchester, NH, and an active member of F-NH PEO International Sisterhood. In addition, she volunteered at Sonshine Inn, Amherst, NH. In her youth, she was an acrobatic dancer. She and her husband traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe and particularly loved the Island of Madeira, which they visited every winter. She was an expert tailor and seamstress and also enjoyed gardening and spending time in her yard. Mrs. Silva was devoted to her husband and was a loving mother and grandmother. Family members include her husband, with whom she would have celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on June 30th, Paul F. Silva of Milford; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda S. and Mario Gonzalez of Amherst; two grandsons, Nathaniel and Noah Gonzalez of Amherst; three sisters, Julie Schena of Haverhill, MA, Dawn Peltier and Hope Rowell, both of Kingston, NH; many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours are Monday, June 14th from 2-4 & 6-8 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am in The First Congregational Church of Milford, UCC, 10 Union Street, Milford, NH. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Milford.
