Barbara F. Mcmahon

Barbara F. (Bridges) McMahon, 85, resident of Amherst, NH, died on January 17, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Nashua, NH. She was born in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, a daughter of Lester Bridges and Florence (Howard) Bridges. Barbara left Canada to work in Washington, DC at The World Bank. She would often visit her Aunt and Uncle in Brooklyn, NY where she met and married her husband Jack. After living in Brooklyn, they moved their family to Westwood, MA where they resided for several years before moving to Amherst. She was a devoted wife and dedicated herself to raising her family. Barbara had been a resident of Amherst, NH for over 40 years. She was an avid gardener, loved to bake, loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and most especially enjoyed traveling back to Canada to visit family. Barbara volunteered at Saint Patrick’s Clothing Barn and Share’s Food Pantry for over 15 years. She was a communicant of Saint Patrick’s Church, Milford, NH. Barbara was predeceased by her husband, John McMahon, who died in 2011. Family members include her five children and their spouses, Cathy and Phil McCarthy of Milford, NH, Patty Avron of Milford, NH, Donna and James Ripley of Woodstock, GA, Anne McMahon of CA and Robert and Irina McMahon of Scottsdale, AZ; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lynn and brother-in-law Ulysse Roy of New Brunswick, Canada. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Share Outreach of Milford, NH.
