Barbara F. Callahan

Barbara Fussell Callahan, 80, of Amherst, NH died on May 21st, 2013 at her home, surrounded by family. She was born in Mineola, NY on August 23, 1932, the oldest child of Dr. Lyman G. Fussell and Mary (McGrath) Fussell. Mrs. Callahan made her home in Amherst, NH for the last 38 years and formerly lived in Winchester, MA and previously Garden City, NY. Her love of life and the Arts was surpassed only by her love of family. Her loving husband of 58 years, Thomas, passed away last summer. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Susan and Colin Buffin of Hopetown, Bahamas; five sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher and Vicki Callahan of Oyster Bay, NY, Stephen and Lorraine Callahan of Amherst, David Callahan of Amherst, Jamie and Patti Callahan of Frisco, CO, and Brian and Kerry Callahan of Alexandria, VA; nine grandchildren; Kaitlyn, Shae and Sarah Callahan, Jack and Elizabeth Callahan, Evan and Brendan Callahan, Nicholas and Charles Buffin. Calling hours are on Thursday, May 23rd from 4:00-7:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 am in St. Patrick Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford, followed by cremation.
