Arthur Cardinal

Arthur Cardinal, 86, resident of Amherst, NH, died December 16, 2009 at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, Nashua, NH. He was born in Boston, MA on May 6, 1923, a son of the late Saviour & Angela (Errico) Cardinal. Mr. Cardinal resided in Amherst for the past 31 years. He had been employed as a Sales Representative for Macy�s Department Store for more than 20 years. In addition, he had owned a Hallmark Store and camera store in Massachusetts. Mr. Cardinal was a communicant of St. Patrick�s Church, Milford. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a recipient of two Purple Hearts. Mr. Cardinal was an avid car enthusiast and enjoyed photography and most especially spending time with his family. He was a loving father and a devoted grandfather. Mr. Cardinal was predeceased by his wife, Rachel L. (Marois) Cardinal, who died in 2006. Family members include his daughter and son-in-law, Gina M. & Jason Aselin of Amherst, NH; a son, Derek A. Cardinal of Florida; seven grandchildren, Taylor and Jake Aselin, Jessica, Angela, Nicholas, Peyton and Amanda Cardinal; a sister, Jeanne Reid of Atlanta, GA; a brother, Saviour Cardinal of Pensacola, FL; several nieces and nephews; two care givers, Shelly Newton and Maureen Dupont. There are no calling hours. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 19th at 1:30 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. Burial with Military Honors will be in the spring in Meadowview Cemetery, Amherst, NH.
