Ann James Hutchinson

Ann (James) Hutchinson, 89, of Brewster, MA and formerly of Mont Vernon and Milford, NH passed peacefully on July 16, 2022, at the Woodlands Assisted Living, Brewster, MA, with her loving family by her side. For 52 years, she was the devoted wife of the late Edward F. Hutchinson. Ann was born in West Newton, MA on August 30, 1932, the daughter of the late Clifford E. James and Eleanor (Gile) Lund. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire in Durham, NH in 1954 where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority and where she met her husband, Ted. Ann was very active in her community as well as her children’s activities throughout their respective educations. Over the years she filled her days with bridge, gardening, a 30-year career as an Avon lady, cheering on the New England sports teams and spending time with her friends and her beloved children and grandchildren. She was an avid sports woman with a passion for tennis, skiing, and swimming. Being a ball girl at the acclaimed Longwood Cricket Club in Newton, MA, sparked her love and dedication to the game of tennis. She later went on to earn a spot on a USTA “A” team, and a trip to Arizona to play in a USTA International tennis tournament. Ann’s love of nature and the outdoors was evident in her vast knowledge of plants, flowers, and birds. She kept her birdfeeder full so she could enjoy the birds at her window right up until the end of her life. She enjoyed music and singing and sang solos and duets in both her church choir and The Blue Birds of Happiness chorus at The Woodlands, where she resided. Spending time with family was of the utmost importance to her. Annual family vacations on Cape Cod Bay and ski trips to the mountains of New Hampshire and Maine, gave her immense joy and many treasured memories. Ann will always be remembered for her infectious laugh, warm heart and immense kindness to others. Family members include four children: Todd G. Hutchinson of Sterling, MA, Lisa H. Conrad and her husband Tom of Orleans, MA, Jill Howard and her husband Greg of Basking Ridge, NJ, Carol Piemontese and her husband John of Brewster, MA, four grandchildren: Ashley McGinness and her husband Greg of Franklin, MA, Brett Conrad and his wife Lane of Beverly Groves, CA, Jack Howard of Boston, MA, Kitt Howard of Basking Ridge, NJ and three great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at 11:00 am, in the Green Lawn Cemetery, North Main Street, Mont Vernon, NH.
