Allan L. Foster, 74, longtime resident of Mason, NH died on January 13, 2016 at his home after a lengthy battle with a rare leukemia. He was born in Nashua, NH on January 23, 1941, a son of Arnold and Mildred (Frye) Foster of Wilton, NH. He was predeceased by a brother, Philip Foster. Allan made his home in Mason for the past 53 years. He enjoyed racing and cruising sailboats along the East Coast and Bermuda for many years. He harbored his boat in New Castle and was a member of Wentworth by the Sea Marina. Allan loved nature, the acreage he diligently cleared with the equipment he acquired, and observing the wildlife that surrounded his home. Allan was interested in people, loved conversation, and had an uncanny ability to make friends out of strangers. Allan delighted in helping neighbors, friends and strangers, whether someone needed their driveway plowed, expertly removing their sailboat from the rocks without damage after a storm, or pulling someone out of a snow bank. Allan was Vice President of Williams & Hussey Machine Company until he retired, finding a second career selling real estate. His greatest love was for his family. Family members include his wife, with whom he would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on March 5th, Marsha L. (Williams) Foster of Mason, NH; a son, Keith Foster and his wife, Susan of Manchester, NH; a daughter, Kimberly Stapel of Milford, NH; five grandchildren, Keiley, Allyssa, Tegan, Trek and Oran; two great grandchildren, Trent and Trey Allan; two brothers-in-law, Matthew Yakovakis of Amherst, NH and Rodney Williams and his wife Dale of Stoddard, NH; a sister in-law, Sigrid Williams of Francestown, NH, and Linda Gaffney of Keene, NH; several nieces and nephews. Memorial visiting hours are on Thursday, January 21st from 4:00-7:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. A memorial service will be held on Friday at 10:00 am in the Second Congregational Church of Wilton, 25 Gregg Street, Wilton, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Boys & Girls Club of Souhegan Valley, 56 Mont Vernon Street, P.O. Box 916, Milford, NH 03055. Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Heald Funeral Home, Milford.
