Alexander W. McDonald

Alexander (Alex) W. McDonald, 66 years old of New Boston, NH peacefully passed away at home on November 2, 2024, with his wife Catherine (Cathy) by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Alex was born May 9, 1958, in Philipsburg, NJ, son of Alexander and Elizabeth (Conrad) McDonald.

Alex is survived by his wife Cathy and son Patrick of New Boston, NH, sister Kathleen of Florida, an aunt, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Coleen McDonald. Alex was a devoted father and caregiver to his son Patrick.

After graduating from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ, he had a successful career as a computer software engineer. Employers included Sanders, HP, and SDC. He ended his career as an independent contractor. 

Alex was a lifetime member of Nashua Fish and Game Association, serving as membership governor and author of a monthly column in the newsletter. He was also a proud lifetime member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting in the woods of NH. 

Alex was an avid hiker, completing the Appalachian Trail twice. He also enjoyed rock and ice climbing throughout the New England area. 

Private services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations to The American Cancer Society or St Jude Children’s Hospital would be welcomed.
