Alan J. Buxton, 59, of Milford, NH, died on April 18, 2009 at Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center, Greenfield, NH following a period of declining health. Born in Nashua, NH on July 16, 1949, he was the son of Harry R. and Rita M (Bisson) Buxton of Milford. Alan was known as Bucko to his friends and family. He graduated from Peterborough High School, Class of 1967. He served in the US Navy from 1968-1974 on the USS Rich as a Signalman. For a living, he was a truck driver and worked for East Coast Steel, in Greenfield and his last 6 years with BDR Transport, of Vermont as a long-haul driver. Bucko enjoyed life to the fullest and was a loyal friend to many. His memberships included the Harley Sanford Post #4368 VFW, Ricciardi Hartshorn Post #23 American Legion, and Milford and Company Motorcycle Club. Bucko enjoyed sports, riding Harley�s with friends, telling stories, cooking, reading 2-3 newspapers/day, and any paperback he could get his hands on, especially Westerns. He was predeceased by his father, Harry Buxton in 1997 and his mother, Rita Buxton in 2007. Family members include three brothers, Cary of Bedford, Scott of Los Angeles, CA and Jon of Monmouth, Maine and one sister, Susan of Springvale, Maine; a niece, a nephew and cousins through-out NH. Memorial visiting hours are Thursday, April 23rd from 5:30-7:30 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday at 10:00 am in the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery, 110 D.W. Highway Rte. 3, Boscawen, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crotched Mountain Foundation, One Verney Drive, Greenfield, NH 03047-5000, or the Milford and Company Motorcycle Club, 69 Oak Hill Road, Weare, NH 03281.
