A. Gordon Benson

A. Gordon Benson, 75, resident of New Ipswich, NH, died November 15, 2011 at the Elliot Hospital, Manchester, NH. He was born in Cambridge, MA on April 10, 1936, a son of John and Olga (Johansson) Benson and was raised in Arlington, MA. He resided in New Ipswich for the past 10 years and formerly made his home in Amherst, NH for many years and Chelmsford, MA for several years. Mr. Benson was employed as a sales engineer for several contractors. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. In addition to his parents, Mr. Benson was predeceased by a brother, Eric Benson. Family members include his wife, Ava (Behr) Benson of New Ipswich, NH; a daughter and son-in-law, Amy J. and Jack Aldrich of South Carolina; two sons, Donald A. Benson of New Ipswich, NH, Robert J. Benson and partner, Katie Allen of Lyndeborough, NH; four grandchildren, Abigail, Nicholas and Anthony Aldrich, Jonathan “JJ” Benson; many nieces and nephews. Memorial visiting hours are Thursday, December 1st from 4:30-8:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. Services will be Friday, December 2nd at 10:30 am at Messiah Lutheran Church, 303 Route 101, Amherst, NH. Burial with military honors will be held in the spring in Meadowview Cemetery, Amherst.
