Thomas M. Quinn Sr., 81, of Amherst, NH passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 30, 2017, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on June 30, 1935, in Arlington, MA, he was the son of the late James W. and Mae E. Quinn. He was predeceased by his sister, Jacqueline (Quinn) Aiken and his son-in-law, John A. Pepin. Tom lived life to the fullest every one of his eighty one years and took his high school yearbook quote to heart, "serious when necessary". After earning a civil engineering degree from Northeastern, Tom went to work in the construction industry. In the early 1970's, Tom and his brother, Jim, started Quinn Bros. Corp, a concrete and aggregate company. The hard work of these brothers created a successful business that continues to this day. Tom was equally passionate about his family. Tom was a great husband, father, provider and role model. He taught his children many important life lessons and his children knew they had no greater supporter than their father. Tom also knew how to enjoy life. Always the life of the party, Tom had a sharp sense of humor. Tom loved vacationing with his wife, Mary Ellen, and their friends to places near and far. He enjoyed skiing, snowmobiling, reading history books, car trips, watching his grandkids play sports and wintering in Florida. These adventures resulted in endless "Tom stories" his friends continue to share to this day. Tom is survived by the love of his life, Mary Ellen (Beaton) Quinn, with whom he spent 44 years of marriage; his son, Thomas Quinn Jr. and his wife, Shelley, of Amherst; his daughter, Karen (Quinn) Pepin of Bedford; and was the loving grandfather to Reagan and Riley Pepin, Ryan and Ashley Quinn. He is also survived by his brother, James Quinn and wife, Carolyn; two sisters, Maureen (Quinn) Gilmartin and husband, Robert, and Eleanor (Quinn) Feeley and husband, Ned; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours are on Wednesday, April 5th from 9:00-10:30 a.m. in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. A mass of Christian burial will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford, NH. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom's memory to The Michael J. Fox Foundation, PO Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014.
