Louise C. Callahan, 75, resident of Mason, NH, died on December 19, 2023, at the Courville Nursing Home, Nashua, NH, after a period of declining health.
She was born on September 14, 1948, in Cambridge, MA, a daughter of the late Rolfe and Marilyn Smith.
Louise was raised and educated in Natick, MA and had resided in Milford, NH for over 40 years before moving to Mason, NH, seven years ago.
Louise worked as the office manager for family physician Dr. Tigchelaar in Milford for over 27 years. After his retirement, she was employed as a receptionist for Alene Candles in Milford, until she retired in 2017.
Louise will be remembered for her kindness and willingness to help others. She volunteered with and supported many charitable organizations, including the Souhegan Nursing Association free clinics, local organization SHARE Outreach, Inc., and many other giving opportunities through her church, especially around the holidays. Her kids remember making and delivering Thanksgiving meals for parishioner families in need and never missing the children’s Christmas coat/mittens and toy drives. She served in various roles at Church of Our Savior in Milford, where she was a devoted member for many years.
Her daughters will always remember her greeting them with fresh-baked brownies after school, being the first to sign up as a chaperone for field trips, and never missing an event of even the slightest importance. She was our biggest supporter and loudest cheerleader, and she will be missed dearly. We take comfort in knowing that she was able to spend these past few years watching her grandchildren grow.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, David Callahan in 1999.
Survivors include her two daughters, Catherine (Kristoffer) Spear of Mason, NH and Elizabeth Callahan of Rye, NH; three grandchildren, Autumn, Ava and Jack; her three brothers, Edward Smith and his wife Wendy of Port Charlotte, FL, Glenn Smith of Millis, MA, and Barry Smith of Millis, MA; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
