JUDITH A. MCCARTHY � DATELINE:�MILFORD, NH � Judith A. McCarthy, 71, resident of Milford, NH, died September 21, 2007 at her home. � She was born in Manchester, NH on July 31, 1936, a daughter of the late Jeremiah P. & Agnes D. (Hanney) McCarthy. � Ms. McCarthy attended the parochial schools of Manchester and graduated from St. Joseph High School for girls in 1953.�She earned a Bachelors degree from Keene State College in 1957.�She also holds a Masters degree in Counseling and Guidance, and a certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in administration from Boston University. � Early in her career she taught home economics and for 37 years was a highly regarded and respected counselor at Manchester Memorial High School.�During part of that time she served as Director of Guidance.�She retired from Memorial High School in 1997. � Ms. McCarthy was past President of the New Hampshire Personnel and Guidance Association.�She served on the Board of Directors of the Manchester Education Association, the Manchester Mental Health Service, Manchester Boys and Girls Club and was active in many other community organizations. � She was a volunteer in the religious education program of St. Patrick Church, Milford.�Additionally, she served on the Scout Committees of Pact 4 and Troop 4 of Milford and participated in the activities of both organizations for more than 12 years.�She was a strong supporter and member of the Sierra club of New Hampshire and of NHPIRG. � She will be remembered as a loving, caring and generous wife, mother and friend. � � � � � � � Family members include her husband of 27 years, James G. Martin of Milford, NH; a son, Patrick J. McCarthy-Martin of Milford, NH; a sister, Dorothy McCarthy Bright and her husband, Roy Bright of Portland, OR; 2 nephews, Brian Bright of Forest Grove, OR and David Bright of Norman, OK. � Calling hours are Monday, September 24th from 5-8 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH.�A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:30 am in St. Patrick's Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford, NH.�Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Amherst.�In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Share Program, c/o St. Patrick's Church, P.O.
