Joseph L. Lusignan, 72, a retired Air Force tech sergeant and air traffic controller, of Sandown, NH, died July 10, 2012 at Parkland Medical Center, Derry, NH. He was born in Worcester, MA on August 19, 1939, a son of Louis H. and Julia (Fahey) Lusignan. Mr. Lusignan was raised and educated in Leicester, MA where he had lived for many years. Following graduation from high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served honorably for 21 years. He retired in 1977, with the rank of tech sergeant and received numerous commendations and service medals. He was an avid reader and could often be found reading a good book in his spare time. A favorite pastime was sharing military stories with his friends. Mr. Lusignan was a lifetime member of Charles F. Minney, VFW Post #3329, Millbury, MA and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Family members include two sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph L. Lusignan, Jr. and Evelyn Lusignan of Tri-Cities, WA, Brian and Lorie Lusignan of Milford, NH; a daughter, Cyndy Hatch of Dudley, MA; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a sister, Carol Bender of Worcester, MA; a brother, William Lusignan of Leicester, MA; his former wife, Mary “Charlie” Lusignan of Dudley, MA; several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours are Friday, July 13th from 6:00-8:00 pm in the Smith & Heald funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. Funeral services are private. Burial will be in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to NH Liberty House for homeless Veterans, 75 W.
