John F. Quinlan, 86, a resident of Amherst, NH, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 15, 2023, at St. Joseph Hospital, Nashua, NH, surrounded by his family, after a period of declining health.
He was born on February 22, 1937, in Somerville, MA, a son of the late John and Mary Quinlan.
John was a self-made man.
He faithfully served his country in the United States Navy and then embarked upon a highly successful thirty-seven-year career with UPS, starting on the night shift washing trucks and working up to Division Manager and later Labor Manager. He served as a Town Selectman of Mont Vernon, NH, for four years.
John spent a tremendous amount of time with his beloved family who adored him. He was overwhelmingly generous and affectionate, endlessly enthusiastic, and full of life. John enjoyed trips to the lake and boating and traveling to Florida for the winter months. His favorite times were any time spent with the love of his life and wife of 62 years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ann Marie Quinlan of Amherst, NH, his children: John and Debra Quinlan of Mont Vernon, NH, Lawrence and Shannon Quinlan of Amherst, NH, Michele and Justin Dufoe of Mont Vernon, NH, and Robert and Amanda Quinlan of Amherst, NH, his brother Fred Quinlan and sister-in-law Bonny Quinlan of South Daytona, FL, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Lawrence and Linda Anzivino, Westford, MA, his eleven grandchildren; Austin Quinlan, Erin Quinlan, Ryan Quinlan, Anna Quinlan, Camryn Quinlan, Taryn Quinlan, Olivia Dufoe, Brooke Dufoe, Elsie Quinlan, Anthony Dufoe, and George Quinlan, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
John was preceded in death by his siblings Margaret Quinlan, William Quinlan, Daniel Quinlan, and Suzanne Viarella.
SERVICES: A mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at 11:00 AM in the St. Patrick Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford, NH 03055. The burial will be private for the family in Mont Vernon, NH.
