Jean B. Pollock, 83, resident of Wilton, NH, died on March 25, 2014 at The Elms Care & Rehabilitation Center, Milford. She was born in Nashua, NH on June 2, 1930, a daughter of Sidney F. and Frances (Slavin) Baker. She was raised in Hudson, NH and graduated from Nashua High School and earned her Bachelor’s degree from Plymouth Teachers College. Mrs. Pollock made her home in Wilton for more than 60 years. She came to Wilton as a young teacher but was soon won over to a career as wife and mother by Wiltons own Joseph K. Pollock. Mrs. Pollock was proud of the fact that she did not learn how to ski until the age of 30 but became a ski instructor and a member of the ski patrol at Temple Mountain. As a mother, she was active in the Boy Scouts and the First Unitarian Congregational Society of Wilton Center. She was an avid reader, enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, knitting, and cooking, with baking desserts her specialty. After her husbands’ retirement, they enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the United States and Australia and attending truck shows. More recently, Mrs. Pollock was an active member of Curves and enjoyed Zumba classes. Mrs. Pollock was predeceased by her husband, Joseph K. Pollock Sr., who died in 2005. Family members include a daughter, Sarah L. Pollock of Hillsboro; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph K. Pollock Jr. and Linda Goodman of Milford; many nieces and nephews. Memorial visiting hours are on Sunday, April 6, 2014 from 1-3pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street Milford. A memorial service will be held on April 27th at 4:00 pm in the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Milford, 20 Elm Street, Milford. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Wilton Public & Gregg Free Library, P.O. Box 420 Wilton, NH 03086.
