Geneva M. Merrill, 93, longtime resident of Amherst, NH, died August 11, 2012 at Ridgewood Center, Bedford, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Lowell, MA on September 28, 1918, a daughter of Charles and Nettie (Hatfield) Roby. She made her home in Amherst for more than 80 years. She graduated from Amherst High School and Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Nashua, NH. She had been employed as a private duty registered nurse and had worked on the surgical floor at Memorial Hospital. In addition, she was the bookkeeper for her husband, Oliver’s loam and gravel business. Mrs. Merrill enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, crafts, quilting and crocheting. She donated much of her handwork to various organizations and her neighbors. She was predeceased her husband, Oliver F. Merrill, who died in 1995; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Linda (Botazzi) Merrill; and all of her siblings. Family members include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda M. and Robert Cutter of Glenwood Springs, CO; four grandchildren, Joelle Dattis of Brookline, NH, Deborah Cutter of New Castle, CO, Douglas Cutter of Fort Collins, CO, Capt. David Cutter USN, of Kailua, Hawaii; and ten great grandchildren. Visiting hours are Tuesday evening, August 14th from 6:00-8:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Cricket Corner Cemetery, Amherst.
