Gary Bent

Gary “Carrot” Bent, 66, resident of Townsend, MA, died on December 29, 2017 at Apple Valley Center, Ayer, MA. He was born in Fitchburg, MA on June 21, 1951, a son of Clara (Creighton) Bent Connolly of Barton, VT and the late Leonard E. Bent. Gary was raised and educated in Brookline, NH and was a longtime resident of Townsend, MA. He worked with and for Butch Wheeler (Uncle Butchie) of Brookline, NH, for over 30 years. He loved the outdoors, was very handy and enjoyed tinkering on small engines of any kind, but especially lawn mowers. Gary will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul a “Gentle Giant” whom had a great sense of humor and a very quick wit. He loved spending time with his many friends and family, always had the coffee on. He enjoyed his days on earth very “simply” and would share whatever he had even when he himself didn’t have much at all. In addition to his mother, family members include six brothers, Leonard and his wife Mona, Norman and wife Dot, Douglas and wife Linda, Ronald, Victor and wife Shari, and Randy and wife Kathy; four sisters, Penny Roy and husband Bruce, Debra Bent, Sharon Thibeault and Vickie Young and husband Merle; many nieces and nephews, Melissa was his Special Angel and also Karen. There are no services. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Brookline, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
