ELIZABETH H. RUSSELL � DATELINE:� BROOKLINE, NH Elizabeth H. Russell, 81, resident of Brookline, NH, died August 13, 2007 at her home. � She was born in Winthrop, MA on February 14, 1926, a daughter of the late George & Dorothy (Spinney) Howatt.� She was raised and educated in Natick, MA, a graduate of Natick High School, Class of 1943 and Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School, Boston, MA, Class of 1945. � Mrs. Russell had been a resident of Brookline, NH for the past 21 years and had formerly resided in Melrose, MA and Natick, MA. � For five years, she worked at the Massachusetts State House for the Secretary of House Ways and Means, House Minority Leader and for State Senator, Leslie Cutler.� In addition, Mrs. Russell had been employed as a secretary for New England Forestry Foundation, Boston, MA for many years. � For the past three years, Mrs. Russell had worked on compiling and researching the Russell homestead, which just celebrated its 250th anniversary and she fulfilled her dream with the publication of her book, The Russell Homestead 1757-2007, 250th Anniversary. � She enjoyed gardening, loved nature and bird watching. � Mrs. Russell was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Milford, where she was a reader and had been active on several committees. � She was a loving wife, a devoted mother and grandmother. � Family members include her husband of 59 years, Douglas L. Russell of Brookline, NH; three daughters, Gail Russell Chaddock of Chevy Chase, MD, Leigh Russell Daugherty of Brookline, NH, Marianne Russell Wahlberg of Scarsdale, NY; 3 Grandchildren, Christina Daugherty of Brookline, NH, Alexandra Wahlberg and Erik Wahlberg, both of Scarsdale, NY; 2 brothers, George Howatt of Paxton, MA, Robert Howatt of Natick, MA; a sister-in-law, Jean Turkington of Concord, MA; several nieces and nephews. � Services will be private.� In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to First Church of Christ, Scientist, 103 South Street, Milford, NH� 03055 or Heifer International, P.O. Box 8058, Little Rock, AR� 72203-8058.� Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH, is in charge of arrangements.
