Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Baker, 67, resident of Milford, NH died on November 1, 2017 at the Elliot Hospital, Manchester, NH. She was born in Chelsea, MA on December 16, 1949, a daughter of William H. and Helen (Finnegan) Twomey. She was raised and educated in Lynn, MA and graduated from St. Mary’s High School and the University of Southern Maine, Class of 1971. Betty made her home in Milford for the past 30 years and formerly lived in Windham, ME, South Casco, ME and Scarborough, ME. She taught first grade in New Ipswich, NH for 28 years and retired in 2015. She also had worked at the Village Preschool in Amherst, NH. Betty enjoyed quilting, sewing and knitting and belonged to several knitting groups in Lyndeborough, Milford, and at St. John Neumann Church. In addition, she loved the outdoors, hiking, birding, bicycling and kayaking, and also enjoyed scrapbooking and traveling throughout the British Isles. She was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church, Milford. Family members include her husband of 44 years, William B. Baker of Milford, NH; three sons and daughters-in-law, W. Ryan Baker and Katharine McManus of North Andover, MA, Nicholas T. and Karen Baker of Lake Forest, CA, Benjamin T. and Jennifer Baker of Barre, MA; five grandchildren, Owen, Ian, Ava Elizabeth, Finnegan and Asher; two brothers, William H. Twomey, Jr. and his wife, Karen of Abington, MA, Dennis J. Twomey and his wife, Ann of Westborough, MA; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Calling hours are on Sunday, November 5th from 1:00-4:00pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00am in St. Patrick’s Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford. To share a memory or offer a condolence, please go to www.smith-heald.com.
